Monday morning around 1:30 am we crawled into our beds. After being gone a 4 day weekend to PA. It was fun, but there ain't nothing like being home and in your own bed! I woke exhausted and told myself to just fix breakfast and you can crawl back in bed for a nap. That really didn't happen, instead around 1:30 pm I found myself buckling up baby Jesse and crawling back into the van again. This time for an hour drive south to the Memorial Hospital for Jesse's Ultra sound on his Kidneys and bladder. Wayne went with me.. As we sat in the waiting room, waiting for our name to be called, I looked up to see another tiny baby out of the nursery being wheeled past us in it's little bed. Immediately I felt a huge lump swell up in my throat and I choked the sobs back. Flashbacks. Oh how I despise them! 3 months ago I was the mother in the hospital bed, watching the transport team take my baby for tests, ultrasounds, etc. waiting reports, Drs. and Pediatrix team about lived in our room during that 3 day hospital stay. I remember trying to take a quick shower in-between visits from the team. Sitting in my bed numb, with what all we were going through. Today (Monday) I couldn't help but send up a bullet Prayer for the mother of the baby that was heading into Ultra-Sound.
Than unfortunately I happened to have another flashback on the way home, this time it was something that I happened during my mental break down. It left me frozen and unable to talk. I know being exhausted from a trip didn't help my mental state at all either.
Tuesday morning I had to get up early, I needed to be left at 9:15 for a wellness check for Jesse. I didn't really think about grabbing his meds before I headed out the door-but will make sure I do next time. I had to call Kayla and ask her "how many mg's are in a ML, in Jesse's antibiotic?" We managed to get the numbers right-at last. As I was heading down the road for town, I made a quick phone call to the dentist saying "Jackie, I just can't make it in Thursday with the children, I am exhausted and just can't do three days in town in a row". Oh she was so sweet and totally understood. Do you know two hrs. later Kayla desperately was calling to let me know that Cheyenne was flossing her teeth and pulled her filling out-so guess what, second call to the dentist.. appointment at 4 pm. So I went home, scurried around for 1.5 hours and was back on the road again, I didn't get home till 7:00. And ran till 11:00.
Wednesday- I took two of my chilluns to Grandma's to play with two of the cousins. The house was quiet and I layed down for a nap-too tired to care about the suitcases that are still staring at me in the face. I finished editing pictures, burned those to a cd, cooked supper, and rocked the baby all day. Kayla worked on mint tea concentrate for the second day in a row. She has a lot in the freezer for over the summer months. Mint tea is so refreshing!
I will leave you with a few pictures of our weekend away. It was so much fun, and thanks to Allen and Kathy for opening up their home to us. We had 14 children, 2 sets of parents and 1 Grandma under the same roof. Oh and did I mention 1 bathroom! We survived very well!
now off to find a little more sleep!
